Maximize the Availability of Mission Critical Enterprise Applications with Ignition™
CARLISLE, MA. -- February 4, 2002. -- Sage Alliances today announced Ignition, the first solution to meet the challenge of maximizing the availability of mission critical enterprise applications.
When a remote server appears to be ‘hung’ or ‘permanently busy’, often the real problem is simply that a software application is consuming all or most of that system’s CPU cycles. In short, the remote server is either overloading or malfunctioning. Until now, the remedy was to dispatch key people to the remote server and reboot it – leaving mission critical applications unavailable to the organization.
Ignition allows malfunctioning or overloaded servers that are not responding to service requests to be remotely stopped and restarted -- without the need to reboot. Ignition can also, if needed, be used to force remote systems to reboot and can be used to terminate the server services that are supporting a remote session.
Ray Burns, Vice President of Engineering for Ignition said “Ignition makes enterprise applications highly available to the business” and “Ignition makes doing so quick, easy, and convenient -- thereby producing large data center cost savings and maximizing revenue production for the enterprise”.
Ignition, developed for OEMs in the enterprise software applications market, is built upon industry-standard technology and can easily be integrated into an application with the 12 lines of supplied code. Ignition supports Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows NT, Linux, and Unix variants.
The availability of Ignition is the first step in the development of the complete Recovery Methods product line focused on remote systems management. Sage Alliances will continue to expand the recovery Methods portfolio through 2002.
Upon request, Ignition can be enhanced so that it will identify by name all the services that were running at the time of malfunction.
Ignition is available immediately. A demo copy is available upon request.
